★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★

Skills:
❥ ❥ Physical  Prowess. Jecht's an athlete who (claims to be) in peak physical condition. He can pack a punch and take one, too, before ever conceding in a match. The man can run, leap, jump, kick, etc. far more than what the average human can. He's also a very good swimmer.
❥ ❥ Combatant. Jecht wields a big-ass sword, and he can brawl with his hands if need be.
❥ ❥ Camping/traveling/hiking/scavenging. He went on a pilgrimage. He knows basic things to go on long journeys through plains, deserts, forests, ruins, and mountains. He knows his first aid, too.

Canon Abilities:
❥ ❥ His final Aeon form . Jecht can transform into this form! But if this form is too large, I would like to request this form instead, which is an alternative more human-sized form as depicted in his Dissidia appearance.
❥ ❥  Magic? In-game we only see Jecht wielding magic in his final aeon form, such as what is listed in the wiki link above for his Aeon form (i.e. able to inflict Petrify with an attack). No elemental or healing magic, though.
❥ ❥ Pyreflies. He's technically made of pyreflies, because he's part of the Fayth's dream, essentially dead. If someone so happens to perform a ritual Sending, he might vanish into them. He knows the Hymn of the Fayth, and like with all other aeons, it can calm him.

Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: What will they manifest as this role? Enhanced (dumb) luck, whether or good or bad, sounds exactly like what Jecht would manifest as a Myth.
Role Reasoning: Jecht fits the "myths" category because he-- as depicted in memory spheres-- appears as the primary emotional hurdle for Tidus to overcome. As Sin, Jecht is a major, physical antagonistic force in FFX, and this is the form with which he interacts with the main party the most, causing a massive amount of destruction. Jecht as a person, though, also wishes to end the cycle of suffering and sacrifice; hence, he made the sacrifice to become Sin, thus passing the opportunity to save that world to his son.
★ Personality ★

Option 1.
❥ ❥ Proud. Loud, brash, boisterous, Jecht is more often than not the center of attention in a crowd. Because of his formidable years as a professional, star Blitzball player (which he'll be quick to remind others of, regardless if they know the sport), he's used to being the center of attention, others listening to him, or otherwise sport-star worshiping him. This all changed when he was thrust from dream!Zanarkand into Spira, where no one knew who he was, but did that stop his loud personality? Nope. He continued on as cocky as ever. Of course, during his pilgrimage with Braska and Auron, he grew to be a little more mindful.
❥ ❥ Actually, a heart of gold. Okay, this is a hard sell. Jecht, during his pilgrimage, does end up becoming more emotionally aware of others and how his behavior affects them. For instance, he swears off drinking when the consequences harm Braska. For another example, the journey itself becomes him wanting to (first) return to Zanarkard to see his son and apologize to his wife, then (second) becoming the final Aeon himself in an effort to save Spira with Braska.  At the end of his journey, he recognizes the necessity of a sacrifice and the weight it. He comes to terms with the fact that he'll (likely) never be able to see his son again, but he realizes that there's something bigger that his own wants, no matter how painful it might be to give them up.  Jecht's one of those big damn heroes overall, and as Auron is quick to point out, he believes in "doing the right thing" despite his caustic personality or selfish tendencies.
❥ ❥ Self-Centered. While Jecht believes in "doing the right thing", that's not to say he's above pursuing what he wants in the interim, and what he wants often includes some sort of energizing, thrilling event, be it a blitzball game or a battle. Jecht himself would describe himself as being no good, and he'll take pride in that while secretly being touched if anyone calls him a good guy.
❥ ❥ Unfortunately, not good at emotionally connecting with others. He's very much a tough-love kind of guy, and it takes a whole video game for him to work on this problematic trait. Instead of talking about one's problems, issues, or anxieties, Jecht is far more likely to unhelpfully encourage another to "get over it". At one point, he even goes so far as to tell his young son that he's a crybaby.
❥ ❥ A bad father. A part of FFX's story is Jecht's son, Tidus, seeking approval from Jecht after living in the latter's shadow for so long. While in the game we see sparse cutscenes of the two interacting as adults together, by the end when the both of them return to Farplane. Only at this end does Tidus receive a welcoming hi-five from Jecht himself, showing a wordless acceptance of his son.
And while not exactly canon,  Dissidia-- a spinoff of various Final Fantasies-- sheds light on Jecht's personality on how he would react with his son post-death. Long story short: he still needs work. For example, Jecht would argue that Tidus doesn't need his approval at all-- that Tidus doesn't "get it". Jecht believes that Tidus should be strong enough to not even feel the need to ask for it, even if it is plainly obvious that Tidus wishes for that reassurance as his son. So even post-death, Jecht is bad at reassuring others when they might need it. He often defaults to criticism in an effort to encourage others-- "encourage" being a loose term, here, because he's rather harsh about it.
❥ ❥Full Potential, and the journey to. To be a reformed man, one that is empathetic, patient, and willing to connect with others in a meaningful way, including his Son. This also involves forgiveness of himself by the means of being good to others, or at least, better than he had been a father to Tidus. This means knowing when to stop ribbing another when it crosses too far. It also means being open to showing emotion, sorrow, and melancholy, instead of either dismissing it, believing it weak, or concealing it behind a lackadaisical attitude. His journey and what he's willing to go through, ideally, will involve connecting with others in a way that put him in a vulnerable, open position-- such as developing a bond that makes him act more paternal. This may involve struggling through attempting to console others. Or barring that, he at least acknowledges that he isn't good at consolation, and instead offers distraction without judgment as a way to comfort another.
